The Welcome Hub
The Welcome Hub
At Bourne Primary School, we understand that joining a new school can be a significant transition for children and families. Our Welcome Hub has been designed to ensure that every child who joins us during the school year feels welcomed, supported and ready to thrive from day one.
Before a child starts with us, we meet with the family to help them understand as much as possible about our school, routines, expectations and support available. This provides an opportunity for parents and carers to ask questions, share important information and begin building positive relationships with staff.
At the heart of our Welcome Hub is our commitment to inclusion. Belonging comes first: every child is known, valued and included, enabling all to thrive and achieve. We take time to understand each pupil as an individual and ensure that they feel part of our school community from the moment they join.
When a child starts, we carry out a prompt baseline assessment to help us understand their strengths, needs and starting points. This information is combined with a standardised one-page pupil profile, giving teachers a clear overview of each child's academic background, interests and any additional support requirements.
This enables staff to plan effectively from the outset, ensuring learning is appropriately matched to pupils' needs and that any necessary support is put in place without delay. By preparing new pupils for success and helping them settle quickly, we support both the individual child and the wider class, maintaining stability and continuity for all.
The Welcome Hub reflects our vision that every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, connected and successful, ensuring a smooth transition into life at Bourne Primary School.
