Safeguarding
If a child is in imminent danger then please dial 999 for the Police.
Bourne Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy which can be accessed below. All staff receive regular safeguarding training. We will always try to work in partnership with families but in any conflict between the needs of the child or young person and those of parents/carers or professionals, the needs of the young person must come first.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. We believe that all children and young people have the right to protection from neglect and abuse. Their welfare is of paramount importance. Bourne Primary School is a place where learning and personal development takes place in a climate of trust and confidence and where we value everyone’s unique contribution to our community.
We closely adhere to the statutory guidance set out in the DfE’s current “Keeping Children Safe in Education”.
We are committed to safe recruitment and selection procedures to ensure that all staff and volunteers have been appropriately screened prior to appointment, and to the provision of appropriate child protection training through our staff, student and volunteer induction programmes and within continuing professional development opportunities.
